Our services

Specialist care in neurology and mental health

We bring neurology, psychiatry, psychological therapy and neuro-diagnostics together under one roof, delivered by licensed specialists in line with Department of Health standards — for individuals, families and organisations.

01 · Neurology

Clinical Neurosciences

Assessment and management of neurological conditions. Care is led by specialists and planned with the patient and, where appropriate, the family.

Neurological symptoms are often worrying and hard to explain. Our aim is a clear answer: what is causing the problem, what it means, and what can be done about it.

Neurological assessment and consultation

A detailed history and neurological examination, leading to a working diagnosis and a clear plan, including any tests that are needed.

Headache and migraine

Identifying the type of headache and what triggers it, then agreeing treatment and a plan to reduce how often it happens.

Epilepsy and seizure disorders

Assessment of seizures, blackouts and unexplained episodes, diagnosis, and the ongoing management of treatment.

Movement disorders

Assessment of tremor, stiffness, slowness, unsteadiness and other changes in how the body moves.

Cognitive and behavioural neurology

Assessment of changes in memory, attention, language or behaviour, and what may be causing them.

Under one roof

Neurology rarely works alone. Where it helps, your care can draw on EEG and nerve testing, psychological support and rehabilitation in the same building, without being sent elsewhere for each step.

When not to wait

Call 998 straight away for sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the body, a drooping face, difficulty speaking, a sudden severe headache unlike any before, or a seizure lasting more than five minutes.

02 · Psychiatry and psychological therapy

Mental Health

Psychiatric assessment and treatment alongside individual and family psychological therapy. Sessions are private, and what is discussed stays between the patient and the clinician.

Asking for help is often the hardest step. You do not need to know which service you need — tell us briefly what is happening and we will advise where to start.

Psychiatric evaluation and medication management

Assessment by a psychiatrist and, where medication is appropriate, prescribing with regular review of how it is working.

Psychological assessment

A structured assessment, using validated measures, to understand the difficulty and plan the right form of therapy.

Individual and family therapy

Talking therapy for one person, or with family members involved where that helps.

Anxiety, low mood and stress-related difficulties

Support for worry, panic, persistent low mood, burnout and the effects of prolonged pressure.

Sleep difficulties

Assessment of problems getting to sleep or staying asleep, and treatment that addresses the cause rather than only the symptom.

Your privacy

Sessions are private. What you discuss stays between you and your clinician, and nothing is shared with your employer or anyone else without your consent. The only exceptions are those the law requires — for example, where someone’s safety is at serious risk. Your clinician explains these at the first appointment.

If someone is in danger

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 for the police or 998 for an ambulance. Do not wait for a reply to an enquiry.

03 · Testing at the Centre

Neuro-diagnostics

Diagnostic testing carried out at the Centre, with results explained clearly and in full.

Each test answers a specific question about how the brain, nerves or muscles are working. We explain beforehand why the test is needed and what it involves, and afterwards what the result means for you.

Electroencephalography (EEG)

Records the brain’s electrical activity through small sensors placed on the scalp. Painless, and used in the assessment of seizures, blackouts and some cognitive and sleep-related problems.

Electromyography (EMG)

Measures the electrical activity of muscles using a fine needle electrode, to show whether weakness comes from the muscle itself or from the nerve supplying it. Some people feel brief discomfort.

Nerve conduction studies

Small electrical pulses on the skin measure how quickly and strongly signals travel along a nerve. Used to investigate numbness, tingling and weakness in the hands and feet.

Neuropsychological and cognitive testing

Structured tests of memory, attention, language, reasoning and processing speed, compared against established norms.

Before, during and after a test
  1. Before A specialist explains why the test is needed. Clear preparation instructions are given when it is arranged.
  2. During Tests take place in a quiet room with a trained member of staff, and you can ask questions at any point.
  3. After Results are reviewed by a specialist and explained to you in plain language, with what happens next.
04 · Recovery and return to daily life

Rehabilitation & Therapy

Recovery support following neurological illness or injury, planned around the person’s own goals and reviewed as they progress.

Rehabilitation works when the goals belong to the person — managing at home, returning to work, getting back to the things that matter — and when progress is measured against those goals.

Neuro-rehabilitation

A planned programme of therapy to rebuild function after stroke, head injury or other neurological illness.

Cognitive rehabilitation

Practical work on memory, attention, planning and organisation, with strategies that carry over into daily life.

Behavioural therapy, including cognitive behavioural therapy

Structured therapy on the link between thoughts, feelings and behaviour, for the adjustment, anxiety and low mood that can follow illness or injury.

Return-to-work planning and follow-up

A phased return agreed with the person and, only with their consent, with their employer — and followed up once they are back.

How a programme works
  1. Assess Where things stand now, and what matters most to the person and their family.
  2. Set goals Specific goals, agreed together, so that progress can be seen and measured.
  3. Therapy Sessions focused on those goals, with family involved where it helps.
  4. Review Progress measured against the goals, and the programme adjusted as the person improves.
